About mechanical seals
A mechanical seal stops liquid leaking where a pump shaft passes through the casing. Two flat faces, one turning with the shaft and one fixed in the casing, are held together by a spring. We supply single-spring, conical-spring and multi-spring mechanical seals for water, chemical and process pumps.
To match a seal, send the shaft size, the pump make and model, or a photo of the old seal with its seat. We'll confirm the face materials (carbon, ceramic or silicon carbide) and rubber parts for your liquid.

How do I know which mechanical seal fits my pump?
Start with the shaft diameter and the pump make and model. A photo of the old seal and its stationary seat helps us match the type and working length.
Why is my mechanical seal leaking?
Common causes are dry running, worn or cracked faces, the wrong rubber for the liquid, or misalignment. Replacing the complete seal, including its seat, usually fixes it.
Which face materials should I choose?
Carbon against ceramic suits clean water. Silicon carbide faces last longer with abrasive or chemical liquids.
